How does the sentence counter detect sentences?
Sentences are detected by splitting text on terminal punctuation: periods (.), exclamation marks (!), and question marks (?). Each resulting chunk is counted as one sentence. Abbreviations and decimals may occasionally be over-counted — this is a common limitation of rule-based sentence detection.
How is reading time calculated?
Reading time is estimated using the average adult reading speed of 225 words per minute (wpm). The total word count is divided by 225 and rounded up to the nearest minute.
What counts as a paragraph?
A paragraph is counted as a block of text separated from other blocks by one or more blank lines (double newline). Single line breaks within a block do not start a new paragraph.
Does this tool send my text to a server?
No. All analysis is done entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your text is never sent to any server, making this tool safe for confidential or proprietary content.
What is a good average sentence length for readability?
For web content, an average sentence length of 15–20 words is recommended for good readability. Sentences over 30 words tend to be harder to follow. Mixing short and long sentences creates a natural rhythm.
